Always in control with the FIT E-Bike System Integration
With bike design, a better ride results from the sum of many individual parts—as well as plenty of important planning, testing, and decision-making to ensure that all the components perfectly complement one another. Are the tires properly suited to the wheels? Does the seatpost reliably support the saddle? Is the fork the best match for the intended riding style?
Of course, when it comes to pedal-assisted cycling, there’s another important relationship to consider: the connection between the powerful drivetrain and the digital display through which riders control their e-bikes. Read on to learn why we’ve partnered with FIT E-Bike System Integration for this critical consideration.
The role of your remote
If the frame is the bones of your e-bike and the motor the muscles, then the digital remote acts as its brain. It’s the window through which you access all the critical attributes of your e-bike’s pedal-assistance system.
With the newest range of Tout Terrain e-bikes, models like Pamir, Appia, and Divide, power and shifting are provided by Pinion’s Motor.Gearbox.Unit, a smarter drivetrain that—as the name suggests—combines both motor and transmission into one sealed unit. To control all of the key features of the MGU, however, riders need the right interface. Enter the FIT system.
With the mission to “accelerate the progress of smart technologies for e-bikes”, the experts at FIT have developed an intuitive control platform that’s easy to read, simple to operate, and grants full access to the MGU’s clever, powerful features.
Control with the touch of your fingertips
The FIT system is navigated on Tout Terrain bikes via the FIT Remote module. Don’t let its small size fool you—the FIT Remote packs a lot into a little package. Controlled with a quick press of your thumb, the FIT Remote is available from Tout Terrain in two options: one with a bright, integrated 1.3-inch color screen that’s clear and legible day or night and another with a larger, center-mounted screen that can be upgraded to a larger display via select dealers. All screens feature an anti-reflective treatment, meaning they can even be read in bright midday light.
Important for adventurous e-bikers, the FIT Remote displays are fully weatherproof so that you can enjoy two-wheeled outings, rain or shine. On each display, you’ll be able to view relevant ride info such as battery life and range prediction, speed, distance, incline, assistance level, calorie consumption, cadence, temperature, and current elevation.
Always know where to go
Another handy feature of the FIT e-bike system is its quick integration with the Komoot navigation app for reliable routing and turn-by-turn directions. Komoot makes route planning a breeze. Simply select your start and end points to begin planning your path. You can specify desired difficulty level, terrain type—even optimize routes for e-bikes and E-MTB.
Komoot will then provide easy-to-follow navigation cues along with important ride data, like elevation gain, and will even direct users to highlighted points of interest along the way! Once you’ve planned, then saved your tour on Komoot, simply sync using the FIT E-Bike Control app and ride!
Select your assistance level
The level of pedal-assist is a personal decision—one that can change depending on a variety of factors, such as the route or road you’re riding, current incline, desired distance, or even how you feel on a particular day. To help match power to your preference, the FIT system has four different assistance settings: Fly, Flex, Flow, and Eco.
Fly: Want to ride quickly, climb effortlessly, or keep up with your speediest cycling partner? In Fly mode, you’ll be harnessing the full force of the powerful Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit, using that energy to propel you forward—fast. Of course, more power usage means a shorter battery life, so engage responsibly.
Flex: One step down from Fly, Flex mode is recommended for when nimble navigation is a high priority. E-MTB outings or other e-bike explorations over rolling hills and loose, steep terrain are no match for the quick boost of Flex.
Flow: Go with the flow in Flow mode. Ideally used for longer pedal-assisted journeys where balancing boost and battery life is a key priority, Flow mode empowers riders on paved roads and gravel paths alike.
Eco: For maximum efficiency on long-distance e-bike adventures, Eco mode provides just the right level of assistance to keep you rolling comfortably. Think of it like a tailwind accompanying you on every ride—a very strong tailwind.
Each setting can be fine-tuned in the FIT app to further personalize your assistance level.
Further features of the FIT system
The FIT system offers several other handy benefits alongside its pedal-assistance selection, navigation, and display of key performance metrics.
- Lights on, lights off: With the FIT Remote Display, a dedicated button lets you control your e-bike’s headlight with a single touch.
- Stop, thief!: Use the FIT app to enable anti-theft measures that deactivate the e-bike’s motor and electronics system.
- Hike-your-bike: When technical terrain or a busy bike path requires you to dismount and walk, the FIT system provides Push Assist to keep you from struggling with the weight of a fully loaded e-bike.
- An extra kick: One more convenient feature of FIT is the Boost button, which provides an instant boost of power to help you overcome short, steep inclines or any obstacle where more energy is required.
Together with your Tout Terrain e-bike’s powerful, reliable drivetrain, the FIT system offers an easier, smarter path forward. For more information about the FIT e-bike system, please visit https://fit-ebike.com/en-en/
