"Even as a child, I found it a pity that on vacation trips, we missed so much along the way. Especially with the majestic Alps lying between Munich and the Mediterranean.
At 22, I decided that it’s not just the destination that matters – but also the journey itself. And what better way to truly experience that journey than by bike?
The bicycle is an incredibly versatile means of travel: You can go minimalist, carry only the essentials and cover long distances with speed – or you can pack a bit more, take it slow, and focus on the adventure, the natural world and the people you meet along the way.
I’m constantly searching for that perfect balance – between speed and ease, between minimalism and a touch of comfort, between the urge to capture everything with the camera and simply being present in the moment.
Right now, I’m on that very quest as part of the project Tallbike Against Cancer, where my friend Tommaso and I are cycling from Munich to Beijing in 120 days to raise funds for the German Cancer Aid.
On this journey, my Tout Terrain Outback is carrying me through remote steppes in Kazakhstan, across deserts and over the Altai Mountains in Russia and Mongolia – always moving forward, in search of that one, personal sense of balance."
